The principals of Accountax CPA’s have many years of experience in tax, business consulting and accounting.The principals and staff of our firm are constantly involved in obtaining continuing education through attendance at various seminars such as the National Society of Accountants, IRS, National Center for Professional Education, and Colorado Society of CPAs' courses. As an example, the principal preparers of the firm usually attend three or more seminars in the Summer & Fall preceding the tax season to learn more about new tax laws and specialized areas such as LLC’s  and S and C Corporations. We have on-line, tax, as well as, paper research services.

 

 
Virginia Miller Cavanagh, CPA (CO cert# 13320, NM Cert#4322) is president of the firm, and holds a MBA degree with an emphasis in finance as well as a BA in accounting. She has substantial experience in tax planning and preparation, accounting and business consulting for a wide variety of businesses ranging from real estate development, attorneys, restaurants, construction contractors & various construction trade subcontractors, to architects, real estate sales and property management companies, retail stores, fast food & convenience stores and various health services professionals. Virginia excels in developing sophisticated models for simulating elements in business start-ups and expansions & developing business plans & cash flow.
Gregory Cavanagh, Tax Manager & business advisor, has a MBA as well as extensive experience in business, managing accounting functions. Greg specializes in preparation of complex business & personal tax returns involving Schedule C sole proprietorships, rental/income properties, capital asset transactions, passive activities, IRC 1031 Like Kind Property exchanges & other business & complex personal tax transactions. Greg is also an experienced business advisor.
Andrea Frazee is a shareholder in our firm and is our payroll specialist and office administrator. She prepares approximately 30 payrolls per month. She also handles a substantial amount of data entry and after-the-fact-payroll input and spread sheet preparation. Andrea has been with Accountax since 1998 and received her degree in Business Administration from Ft. Lewis College in May 2004. She has completed at least one tax course per year and prepares individual tax returns.
Bob Williamson, Staff Accountant, joined our staff in 2010 following seven years of progressively more responsible tax preparation and planning, accounting and payroll reporting. Bob is well experienced in individual and business return preparation, Quickbooks and related tax and accounting work and computer software. Bob is a graduate of Fort Lewis College and is in the process of preparing for the CPA exam.
Jeremy Lederer, CPA, joined us in early July as a senior accountant. Jeremy, a graduate of Fort Lewis College, has over six years of progressively more responsible accounting experience. He is experienced in corporate, partnership and individual tax planning and tax preparation. He is experienced in negotiating with the IRS seeking account settlements, including Offers in Compromise. He is very experienced with QuickBooks, and in preparing financial statements. Jeremy has worked with various types of businesses, including, specialized experience with professional athletes, real estate and construction.
   
Greg and Virginia also hold and present seminars on subjects varying from small business start-up seminars to senior tax issues, fraud and embezzlement prevention and other subjects. Such seminars have included presenting for the IRS and the Fort Lewis College Small Business Resource Center. Greg and Virginia regularly advise on small business start-ups and choice of business entity.
